We welcome all volunteers. We make blankets and give them away to children and teens in need of comfort across the country. We have local chapters and events. Binky Patrol welcomes students and scouting troops, churches, community service organizations.
GET A DAY - GIVE A DAY - HAS ENDED - 1Million volunteers have signed up. If you are already COMMITTED to a day in the HandsOn system, you're fine. If you are just now wanting to volunteer, we're sorry. The limit has been reached.
After the dust settles on this amazing promotion, we will begin to post new opportunities on the HandsOn Network for volunteers across the country to continue to help us make blankets. Just because there is no 'barter' involved, you can STILL make a difference by volunteering, just to volunteer! We need you and so do the children and teens we serve.

Our site forum is for everyone to read, but only our logged in Area Coordinators can participate. We hope you enjoy reading the stories they've sent in from recipients and their own experiences. Area Coordinators, please tell us your stories about your binky, making binkies and other warm and fuzzy things to tell what a difference one person and one binky can make. Thank you, and welcome to our website. Sincerely, Susan Finch, Founder Binky Patrol sfinch@binkypatrol.org

BINKY PATROL NEWS:
Binky Patrol Featured in, "Quilting For Peace" by Katherine Bell
I received a beautiful letter in the mail with an amazing book, "Quilting for Peace" by Katherine Bell. This book is a compilation of more than 25 inspiring essays and 15 charity projects. We were interviewed so that we could be included in this lovely book.
Not only does it tell the stories, but gives patterns for some easy and beautiful projects.
Binky Patrol Joins HandsOn
Binky Patrol has registered with the national HandsOn network as well as their local action center in Greater Portland Oregon. Through their network of more than 250 HandsOn Action Centers, you can find volunteer projects and programs that align your passion with real needs in your local community. You can get trained to become a volunteer leader, or you can use your professional skills to get a local non-profit organization on track. The options are endless.
Why is my quilted blanket the same tax value as a fleece one?
During the Give a Day, Get a Day, the question came up a couple of times, " I am assuming that a quilted blanket is worth more than the listed price of a no sew fleece which only takes about 30 minutes to complete."
First, because you chose to make a sewn blanket rather than a tied fleece blanket was your choice. We all have our personal styles. Some spend $30 on fleece to get what they want, and other find old fabric from someone who died in the family and make a quilt.
Support to Your Favorite Cause through the iGive toolbar
iGive is a great site that allows you to shop online, just like always AND ensure a donation is made to your favorite charity based on your purchases. They now have a
toolbar you can add to your browser to make it REALLY easy. Choose Binky Patrol or ANY of your favorite charities in their database to ensure your search and purchase discounts are donated to your charity.
Make Binkies

Binkies can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, or quilted. The only requirement is that they are at least 3' square, soft, washable -- all pins removed! and that they come from the heart. We have no set patterns because we have volunteers working with all skill levels and styles. We wouldn't want to hinder your creativity. We have a few patterns downloadable on the site.
If you have Binkies that you want to donate, please check our Chapters section to find the Area Coordinator closest to you!
HandsOnPortland - BAT Prep Beaverton Library
Hands On Portland broke the MLK Bink A Thon into two parts: one to cut and prep the fabric and the other to sew them all together. Today we had over a dozen people join us at the Beaverton Library to cut fabric, make blanket sandwiches for sewing on Monday and tying fleece blankets.
Thank you Hands On and all who attended. We also had several people show up to drop blankets off that they made at home!
